Congratulations to Geovanny Sanchez Salazar and Washinkai students Andres, Anna, Sisia, Stella, Frankie, Charlie Q, Charlie L, Charlie M, Lottie, Elliot, Hamid, Kyle, Joshua, Nick, Harry and David who received awards at the Sports Gala. CD Washinkai Karate gave a short demonstration and were presented with the awards by Jávea – Xàbia Mayor José Chulvi for their achievements in sport at the 16th  Gala de L’esport.

The event took place on the 14th December at the Palau d’Esports Miguel Buigues.  It was the 16th annual Gala de l’Esport which recognised the achievements of sporting clubs and associations in Jávea during 2014.  This year’s event included a special honour for the town’s football club CD Jávea which has been celebrating its 75th anniversary. The awards were presented to the most outstanding athletes of the year, honours for the town’s elite sportsmen and women, and the Maurice Cheutín award  for the promotion of sport in Jávea.

New disciplines  featured in the 2014 awards including handball, baseball, roller hockey and stand up paddleboarding (SUP).  The gala  featured displays of karate, judo, gymnastics, Muay Thai as well as the work of  the dance academies of Salomé Rodrigues and En Danza.
